Mock driving test lesson

A full practice run of the Queensland practical test, with a written score sheet so you know exactly what to fix.

Test-style practice

Drive it like the real thing

In a mock test lesson Henry plays the examiner. You drive a test-style route with directions only, no coaching, then you get a written score sheet and a debrief on every fault.

  1. Warm-upA short drive to settle the nerves.
  2. The mock testAbout as long as a real car test (TMR: 25–35 minutes on the road), manoeuvres included.
  3. Score sheetEvery fault written down by skill area, marked the way Q-SAFE examiners categorise errors.
  4. Fix itWe use the rest of the 2 hours to work on the faults straight away.

How Q-SAFE examiners categorise errors

Critical driving error (CDE)
An error that compromises the safety of any road user or shows an inappropriate level of skill. The test ends.
General critical driving error (GCDE)
For example, the examiner has to intervene, a collision, a dangerous action, or disobeying an official direction. The test ends.
Non-critical driving error (NCDE)
An error that doesn’t by itself compromise safety. These are recorded.
Specific repeated driving error (SRDE)
Repeating the same non-critical error on certain checks can add up to an unsuccessful result.

What’s on your score sheet

Each skill area is marked: no errors, non-critical errors (with a tally, so repeated errors stand out), or a critical error.

  • Pre-drive and moving off
  • Scanning, mirrors and head checks
  • Speed control and speed zones
  • Lane position and steering
  • Signalling
  • Intersections and giving way
  • Traffic lights and turning
  • Roundabouts
  • Lane changes and merging
  • Following distance and gap selection
  • Pedestrians, cyclists and school zones
  • Manoeuvres (e.g. reverse park, turn-around)
  • Gear and clutch control (manual)

No mock test or lesson guarantees a pass. It shows you, honestly, how ready you are. Track your skills between lessons.
